The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the geography, history, and culture of Africa and the eastern world. Throughout the school year, students will study geography (both the physical and human aspects), the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and East Asia.
Students will understand the impact of geography on the history and culture of each region and will develop an awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity.
- Writing: Develop a thesis, support with multiple forms of evidence, and provide analysis with an explanation in written form.
- Reading: Identify main ideas, analyze supporting details, and evaluate inferences within discipline-specific readings.
- Content: Apply content in order to evaluate relationships and draw conclusions.
- Communication: Produce clear and coherent communication in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and evidence.
