Course Description
During the course of the school year, students will systematically study the patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, as well as the use, and alteration of Earth’s surface. Students will employ geography concepts and landscape analysis to examine human social organization and its environmental consequences. Enduring Understanding(s): – Life is dictated by several geographical circumstances. – Over time, religion has spread from the location of its founding and has impacted life in all regions for various reasons. – Major religions of the world are remarkably diverse, yet share common themes and core values. – Patterns of where and how people live are influenced by world events and factors of geography. – Geography influences political boundaries and causes conflict within regions. – Agriculture, industrialization, and urbanization have dramatic positive and negative consequences in every region of the world.
Learning Targets
- Writing: Develop a thesis, support with multiple forms of evidence, and provide analysis with an explanation in written form.
- Reading: Identify main ideas, analyze supporting details, and evaluate inferences within discipline-specific readings.
- Content: Apply content in order to evaluate relationships and draw conclusions.
- Communication: Produce clear and coherent communication in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and evidence.
