With a focus on building a career mentality, eAchieve offers technology, business, and information literacy for second grade students with the purpose of helping children begin to understand how they can use organized systems like the library and internet to aid them in their search for information and resources for both personal and academic purposes.

Learning Targets

Technology, business, and information literacy will be continued from grade 1, as students will gain skills for navigating information in libraries and online. It is important for students to be able to tell the difference between fiction and non-fiction resources at this stage in their education. Understanding what websites are trusted and those not be used for academic purposes will also be taught. Students will learn to distinguish between fact and opinion and be able to determine the timeliness and validity of information sources. Aside from written information, students will learn how to recognize the messages conveyed by graphics and images in media. Students will also learn how to apply their academic experiences to the real world in work, inter-relationship, or community situations. Assessing attitudes and skills positively contributing to successful learning will be taught to help students begin to understand how they can use what they’ve learned in their personal and professional lives beyond second grade.
