Prerequisites For: None

In grade 1 the purpose of eAchieve’s English language arts program is to, in a sense, add as an extension to the material learned at the Kindergarten level.  Here, we expect to take an approach involving a greater amount of detail, information recollection, and relationship development.  One of the largest differences is for student’s to develop a curiosity and ask more questions without being prompted.

Learning Targets

The learning targets identified in Grade 1 are specifically made to build directly on the skills learned in Kindergarten.  We want to transition into the basic understanding of how, and why the English language works.  Students should learn how to print the entire upper/lowercase alphabet, be able to understand some basic grammatical concepts (ex. The first letter of a sentence is capitalized, and punctuation), and the goal is to have Grade 1 level children able to articulate a narrative with a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end.
