What you need to know about AP Biology
AP Biology is a course offered through eAchieve’s extensive online catalogue, which allows students to get their college introductory biology credit while still in high school (and getting their graduation credits too). Other AP courses achieve the same thing, but online courses allow students the freedom of studying where, how, and when they want without the physical restrictions of a traditional high school.
Are AP Biology classes hard?
AP students are expected to comprehend and discuss complex topics in biology with the same aptitude as a freshman in college. Although AP coursework may be difficult, many of our students found the material to be a fun challenge, and beneficial towards their college careers.
Are AP Biology Classes worth it?
The rigorous work involved in an AP course can be intimidating, but the benefits of taking an online AP course are worth it! In addition to gaining incredible knowledge, students will get college credit and college course experience to prepare them for future higher education courses.
How does AP Biology work?
The course takes one semester to complete, and works much like a regular class except more in-depth. AP Biology involves thorough analyses of complicated topics in life-science, with the written and communicative abilities to not only understand the topics but to question them as well. Students will take an AP Exam at the end of the semester to determine how much college credit they’ve earned.
Is AP Biology necessary?
AP class are not necessary to graduate, but they are helpful in applying for college and staying debt-free. AP Biology, along with other AP course, prepares students for a future of further education in nursing or earth sciences which standard courses just can’t match.
Can I take online AP Biology online?
Absolutely! eAchieve offers an extensive collection of online AP classes for high school students to enroll in. Start your path today to further your knowledge, advance your credits, and prepare for college with courses offered at eAchieve.
How many AP classes should I take?
Research often helps students figure out how many AP classes they should take in a year, but someone’s ability to handle coursework changes year to year as that individual grows. Challenge yourself at first, but try not to overwhelm yourself with work, and go from there.
How does the weighted AP GPA work?
One of the many benefits of taking AP classes is that they count more towards your GPA than standard courses: which means that it is possible for students to achieve a GPA greater than 4.0! Many of our AP students see this as a safety net and a challenge to graduate with a 4.0+ (very impressive to colleges).
How do I take AP classes outside of high school?
Start your path to online AP classes today to begin getting college credit, advance your knowledge, and prepare yourself for higher education with the courses offered at eAchieve all on your terms.
How should I choose my AP classes?
Pick class subjects you’re interested in and want to learn more about – especially if you’ve done well in these types of classes already. If you already have a future career in mind, you can choose AP classes based on your intended college major.
What’s the difference between AP Biology and regular biology?
Regular, Honors, and AP classes have important differences, namely that you can earn college credit while still in high school by taking advantage of AP classes offered.
I’m homeschooled. Can I take AP Biology online?
You sure can! Many of our students are homeschooled and take AP classes online to supplement their curriculum. Homeschooled students can earn AP credits by enrolling part-time at eAchieve Academy.
Are AP classes a good idea for all high school students?
AP classes have pros and cons depending on the type of student you are, and your plans for higher education.
Is AP Biology the same as a college biology course?
AP classes are meant to be as hard as introductory level college courses. So AP Biology in high school can be compared to a first-year biology class in college.
Do colleges like AP Biology?
AP classes look great on college applications as long as you’ve earned good grades and exam scores.
How do I manage more than one AP class at a time?
Managing multiple AP courses in high school can present new challenges, but it’s also a great opportunity to learn time-management skills that will serve you well in college and in the workplace.
Is taking AP biology better than a dual enrollment biology class?
Comparing AP classes with dual enrollment courses isn’t necessarily straightforward. AP courses are standardized in each state, but the quality of a dual enrollment class varies depending on the institution.
