Description:

English 9 is a full year course. The first semester focuses on learning the various purposes of writing, with an emphasis on written communication skills and learning how to analyze a piece of fiction.

During the first semester, students are introduced to the study of short fiction and the novel. All literature read is in an online textbook - however, students may choose to acquire their own copy of George Orwell's "Animal Farm" (also available online).

During the second semester, students are introduced to three more genres: the nonfiction essay, drama, and poetry. Students will read Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. The second semester provides students numerous opportunities to further hone their research and analytical skills.

Learning Targets:

T1 = Communication Target: Students can effectively communicate for a variety of purposes to a variety of audiences. (writing, speaking, digital media)

T2 = Reading Target: Students can comprehend and evaluate both fiction and nonfiction texts.

T3 = Language Target: Students can use a wide variety of words effectively, including general vocabulary and specific literary terms, and adhere to the standard rules of English grammar when communicating.

T4 = Research & Inquiry Target: Students can conduct research for a variety of purposes (evaluating sources for validity and appropriateness), and provide accurate citations.

As an online public charter school in the Waukesha school district, eAchieve Academy is tuition-free for all K-12 students in Wisconsin. The only costs students incur are for textbooks and any materials for some classes.

Free laptop for all full-time students

Full-time students at eAchieve Academy get a free laptop from Milwaukee PC and a stipend for internet access. The laptop is yours to keep after completing the first year. eAchieve also reimburses you $60 toward your internet service after every semester.

Our students score higher on ACT admission tests than students at other online high schools in Wisconsin.

We get a lot of prospective students and parents asking if a diploma from eAchieve Academy is the same as one from a conventional school. Don't worry, there is absolutely no difference between a diploma earned at eAchieve Academy and one earned at a bricks and mortar school.

Transcripts from eAchieve Academy are accepted by colleges

Transcripts from eAchieve Academy are accepted at all colleges and universities, including transcripts for any AP classes you take. We have many students who go on to 4-year universities, often with academic scholarships.

eAchieve welcomes part-time students

Homeschooled students and students at conventional high schools can take up to two classes per semester at eAchieve Academy. Our part-time students include those looking to graduate early from high school or make up lost credits, homeschooled students, and adults under 21 working towards competency based high school diploma.
