Students then learn how to use the GIMP, an image-processing program to create and manipulate digital images. Specific skills taught in this course include using layers, cropping images, color, and lighting concepts. As a culminating activity, students build a portfolio of work to demonstrate the skills they have learned. Students do not need to have access to a digital camera or photography experience to take this course.

T1: Students will be able to explain how a digital camera works, and the differences between color and black and white images.

T2: Students will be able to demonstrate good photographic composition and lighting in their images.

T4: Students will be able to use multiple layers to modify existing images and create their own multi-layered images.
