DESCRIPTION:
Students are introduced to the world of the theater with emphasis on the process of preparing a piece for performance. Students will develop the confidence required to speak and perform in front of others and refine their skills to better communicate both physically and vocally. Topics covered will include character development, physical and vocal expression, script analysis, freeing of inhibitions, overcoming stage fright, and reflection.
During the course, students will have a variety of performance assignments, including poetry and prose interpretation, dramatic and comedic monologues, and/or original character creation. In addition, the course will introduce students to the process it takes to create, produce, and perform a piece of live theater.
