Other ways to prepare for a career as a physician
The more specific type of doctor you want to be, the more specific your pre-med path. Sports medicine, pediatricians, podiatrists, obstetricians, and surgeons all have different learning requirements. Your pre-med major should reflect what sort of doctor you want to be. We use career-planning resources to help our students meet their academic and medical career goals.
Knowing multiple languages can expand your job opportunities in medicine. Many hospitals need bilingual (or trilingual!) doctors to better communicate with patients. eAchieve has world language courses starting with beginners up through AP-level. Classes are offered in Spanish, French, German, and Chinese. And a Latin course can help you better understand medical terminology based on the language.
Additionally, eAchieve Academy has electives to maximize your transcript for college admission. Our optional classes cover fitness, cooking, astronomy, and foreign languages. These classes are fun for you and look great on a transcript! Service learning courses can be used to gain experience volunteering at a hospital or doctor’s clinic.
Pre-med admissions at top colleges & universities
The first step of a career as a doctor is getting into college with a track for pre-med students. Admissions offices look at GPA, class history, and service learning or community volunteering when deciding who gets into university or is accepting into a specific study program. eAchieve Academy graduates have been accepted into colleges and universities across the United States. We’ve even had students accepted at international institutions!
Admission to medical schools highly competitive. You will have to take the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) in order to gain admission. Each year, 85,000 students take the MCAT in the hopes of scoring well enough to get accepted into medical school. There is a registration fee, so to keep costs down you’ll want to do well on your first exam. Improve your chances with AP (Advanced Placement) or Honors classes during high school to ensure you understand all the basics found on the MCAT exam.
